Dear Discovery Yacht Owners 'D.Y.O.'

Firstly I want to apologies for needing to write to you one more time and for sending same email to more than one address for some D.Y.O.

I now have our new website up and running. Access using any one of the following:

https://www.discoveryyachtowner.com
http://www.discoveryyachtowner.com
www.discoveryyachtowner.com
discoveryyachtowner.com

Initially I have taken responsibility for:
  • selecting phpBB forum based software package, very latest version,
  • the internet host server package (a new account on which I am paying the subscriptions),
  • how our website is presently structured,
  • who can become a registered user and thereby access our webpages.
I am asking you to register as soon as you have the opportunity and time to do so. Once our numbers get somewhere near those of our former website, it is my intention to hand-over responsibility for control and admin to the membership. Thereafter my participation and responsibilities can become same as others. For the avoidance of any doubt I strongly believe our D.Y.O. website should be run and controlled by D.Y.O. e.g.

Once you have registered you will find the website relatively easy to navigate and use. Unlike our earlier website it looks good on both pc as well mobile phone.

My first layout attempt will make it easy to upload/download files, including those available from manufacturers of equipment we have on board, as well files produced by D.Y.O., service providers and yacht builder, also press articles of interest.

Our website can become enormously useful for the present and future D.Y.O. to facilitate sharing information, which can be useful as well often of vital importance to D.Y.O. The old saying "To be forewarned is to be forearmed" cannot be understated.

Previously, we used to give the yacht builder 'Discovery' registered user access to our website. The aim being: (i) Encourage Discovery to provide technical support. (ii) Keep Discovery aware of issues, problems, failures, owner improvements; to help them improve quality assurance. What better way is there for a manufacturer to improve quality and reduce costs? I personally continue to favour same approach and I am prepared to move forward in harmony if this becomes possible? In the meantime, none D.Y.O. user registration is limited to a minority of helpful trustworthy specialist parties; having a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise, namely John Eustace (JE Marine) & Sue Grant (Berthon).

How to become a registered user:
  • Navigate over the topic 'Information for Guests and those wishing to register'
I really do thank you for your patience and for putting up with my recent ranting.

Finally, I am sending this email to D.Y.O. as a Bcc to keep email addresses secure. You will, however, notice I am sending same email to John Burnie & Werner Schnaebele (also Oliver Hayes because I have mentioned him). I want everyone to know I am wanting to work in harmony with all parties and move forward and not be distracted if looking back.

John Burnie (having taken the Krystal account username & password from his marketing manager, Oliver Hays) is in a position to make our former website available to us, even if for just a limited time. This is not essential to me, it would simply allow me to move 9 years of D.Y.O. technical information and postings to our new website. Without this, I will need to use the webpages I was able to copy to my pc hard drive, then one by one, recreate each historical posting on our new website, to initially populate it with former postings. Considerable time and effort, which could be put to better use. In return, I can offer to discontinue, even delete all references relating to the recent hijacking our old website - not simple to do because the internet is vast nowadays, what with FB, Youtube and plentiful forums out there!

PS: Amazingly only one owner has asked to be removed from my D.Y.O. mailing list! I hope this doesn't mean by emails have been going into hyperspace, rather the deep?
